Access and Equity for Students in ELS
At ELS we aim to ensure equal opportunity for all students to access the Division's services. We also understand that making the transition to study at university can be difficult. Below are a number of links to assist you in dealing with issues of access, equal opportunity, general grievances and even advice for living and studying at university.
Student Support Services
Student Support Services is committed to providing a range of quality services that can support and assist you in your time at Macquarie University. SSS provides free and confidential services to students and staff of Macquarie University. They can assist with access to counselling, welfare services, career development services, accommodation services, learning support and even financial advice.
General Grievances
If you are a student and you believe you are being harassed or treated unfairly by a member of the University, whether staff or student, the University has Discrimination and Harassment Policy and Procedures for Students to assist you. This policy applies if you believe your adverse treatment has something to do with your sex, age, marital status, sexuality, pregnancy, race, nationality, religious group, or disability.
Students with Disabilities
If you feel that you have a disability that may affect your performance in one of the Division's courses, please discuss this first with the University's Equity Support Unit. Once ELS has received a Disability Advice Form we will make appropriate arrangements to facilitate consulatation with your Unit Coordinator. While the majority of support for students with disabilities is provided through the Disability Services Coordinator, every effort will be made within the Division to provide the support required by the unique nature of some Environmental & Life Science courses.
Equal Opportunity
The Division has a policy of equal opportunity. The Division takes issues such as harassment and discrimination seriously as they impinge on equal opportunity.
