Eligibility - Admission Requirements:

Academic Requirements:

Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 out of 4 (or equivalent) to be eligible for the Study Abroad program. Individual units will be approved in accordance with selection criteria and previous studies. Transcripts of previous results with an explanation of grades are therefore critical documents that must be included with the application.

English Language Requirements:

Applicants from non-English speaking countries may need to provide evidence of recent English-language proficiency. This includes:

  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): score of 570 overall (paper test) with a minimum of 50 in each section; or 230 (computer-based test) with 16 in Listening, 18 in Structure/Writing and 17 in Reading.
  • IELTS (International English Language Testing): score of 6.5 overall with a minimum score of 5.5 in each of the reading, writing, listening and spoken components.

Students who do not meet the English entry requirements above are advised to include a course of intensive English study in their first semester program (if coming for one year), or prior to commencing a one semester program of study. Depending on the student's level of English, this may take the form of a full-time intensive program (20 hours per week) at the University's language centre NCELTR (National Centre for English Language Teaching and Research), or a mixed program involving a combination of language study at NCELTR and award course units. The fee structure and timetable is available on request or at www.nceltr.mq.edu.au.
