Program Structure and Content
- Masters in Museums Studies ) (graduate HECS supported or 36 cp, $ 360 per cp) To take 1.5 years F/T to complete or could be completed in 1 year if Module 2 (internship) were completed during the long vacation. For International Students, CRICOS No. 048249A
- Postgraduate Diploma in Museum Studies (graduate HECS supported or 24 cp, $ 360 per cp) To take 1 year F/T to complete or could be completed in less if Module 2 were completed during the long vacation. For International Students, CRICOS No. 048250G
- Partial degrees or 'double-badged degrees' - Overseas students may complete one or more modules as set out below.
- Postgraduate Diploma students complete 2 modules (Module 1 is compulsory); MSc students complete the 3 modules.
The following program allows for students to commence in February and July .
PROGRAMPrerequisites: a degree in earth sciences, palaeontology, biology, geology, history, cultural geography, indigenous studies, creative arts, archaeology, education, art history, fine arts, cultural studies, computing anthropology or some discipline relevant to museum studies, OR qualifications deemed to be equivalent. Students with relevant work experience equivalent (approximately 5 years - to be assessed in the application process) may enrol in the Graduate Diploma and after the successful completion of Module 1 may transfer to the Masters program. .
For flexibility, the program is divided into modules--made available for both Postgraduate Diploma and Masters students. Each module constitutes a complete semester's full-time study. .
Postgraduate Diploma students will complete two modules (Module 1 is compulsory); MSc students will complete all three modules.
Module 1
This Module is compulsory for the Postgraduate Diploma and MSc program. It consists of at least 3 units of study (at least 12 credit points).

A period of professional experience is the central plank of the Masters program but for clientele already employed in a museum, an alternate program of coursework or special project will be available or an internship organised at an overseas museum.

The Special Project provides experience in research, the results of which may be presented as a dissertation, a report, a plan for an exhibition, a web-page or some other form agreed to by your supervisor.

Requirements:
In order to qualify for the award of
Postgraduate Diploma or MSc in Museum
Studies, a pass in all units will be
necessary.
Students enrolled in the Postgraduate Diploma may transfer to the Masters program after the successful completion of at least one module of study, i.e. 12 credit points. Articulations with other Australian and overseas institutions are being pursued.
