Research @ ELS

ELS is highly regarded for its research achievements with research performance as measured by publications, grants and postgraduate completion rates putting us at the forefront of the University in previous years. As a strategic aim, ELS seeks to maintain national and international leadership in specific research areas as well as become involved in creative and innovative research partnerships in new areas. A major element of this aim involves encouraging the development of high-level research skills by staff, especially new staff.

Research in ELS is usually collaborative with groups of scientists or social scientists pursuing research interests that are generally funded by competitive grants obtained either internally or externally. These groups are typically affiliated with one or more of our Departments or Research Centres. Staff involved in research will pursue opportunities for industry linkages and commercialisation as well as opportunities to incorporate their research interests into ELS teaching programs.

Many issues relating to research within ELS, including the administration of grant applications and postgraduate research student matters are carried out by the Division’s Research Committee.
