ELS Higher Degree Research Committee
Many issues relating to research within ELS, including the administration of higher degree research student matters, are carried out by the Division’s Higher Degree Research Committee. The committee consists of representatives from each Department in ELS, as well as representatives from the University’s Higher Degree Research Office, the student body and the Library. Terms of Reference
1. To operate as a forum for the sharing and dissemination of best practice in higher degree research..
2. To fertilise and foster inter-departmental linkages and activities to enhance higher degree research.
3. To overview higher degree research students’ needs across the Division.
4. To monitor the progress of the Division’s higher degree research students
5. To ensure productive communication with the University’s Higher Degree Research Committee and the University community.
6. To ensure communication between this committee and the Division’s Teaching and Learning Committee, particularly in matters concerning new program and unit proposals.
7. To keep a watching brief over Intellectual Property issues as they relate to higher degree research students.
Meeting Schedule 2008
Meetings are scheduled for Wednesdays of the week following the MQ HDRC, which in 2008 will meet on the first Friday of every second month from February to December (with the addition of November). The schedule includes additional meetings for scholarship ranking.
