Admission - gaining entry to Macquarie and ELS

There are many pathways to studying at Macquarie. The HSC will always be important, but if you didn't get the score you wanted it's not the end of the world! Some of brightest students at ELS have come to us via alternative entry schemes such as the Jubilee Scheme, Non Award study or through our established TAFE articulations. Below is some information on these alternative schemes, this information should be read in conjunction with the University's "Future Undergraduate Students" page accessed from http://www.futurestudent.mq.edu.au/undergraduate/.

General Entry

The mainstream way to apply to study at Macquarie is through the University Admissions Centre (UAC). Applications are accepted on-line at www.uac.edu.au or get your application from the UAC Guide available at the University Co-op Bookshop, UAC, large newsagencies, or your high school or TAFE.

Second Semester Entry

If you want to start University in the second half of the year you should also apply through UAC. Applications for second semester study usually close at the beginning of June each year. For more information please phone Macquarie's Student Enquiry Service on +61 2 9850 7314, or enquire in person at the Student Enquiry Service, Level 1, Lincoln Building. Note that only a very limited number of places are available to students for second semester entry.

Mature Entry - the Jubilee Scheme

If you are over 21 years of age and do not meet the usual entry requirements, you may be eligible to apply for admission through the Jubilee Scheme. Click here for more information.

Non-Award Entry

Non-Award Entry is another alternative pathway to University study for students not satisfying the normal entry requirements or not eligible for or accepted via the Jubilee Scheme. This scheme provides an opportunity to enrol as a full fee paying student and transfer to a degree program after successful completion of at least 12 credit points with an overall minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 (pass average). At ELS we have set a minimum UAI for school leavers - this is usually between 60.00 and 65.00. Non-award units are full fee paying. If you complete 12 credit points with a GPA of 2.0 you will be eligible to receive an offer of entry to degree at Macquarie and the credit points you earn from non award study will count towards this degree. Information and application forms are available from the Centre for Open Education. Visit http://www.coe.mq.edu.au/nonawd.html or phone the Centre for Open Education on +61 2 9850 7470.
